Paddlesports America

U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, FLOTILLA #49

An introductory course to meet the boater education needs for operating a paddlecraft– specifically a canoe or kayak. The information includes maintenance, safety, tips on how to be a courteous operator, and laws and regulations to which must be adhered. Tuition includes textbook. Class for adults and children ages 12 and older.

Note: The manual does not explain how to perform paddlecraft strokes or rescue techniques. The best way to learn basic and emergency paddling strokes and techniques is by taking a hands-on course with a qualified instructor and then practicing what you learned. Be sure you practice with an instructor or friend in case you need assistance.
